Utility Cupboard & Matching Pine Table

This project involved removing an old & broken utility cupboard, and building an entirely new pine cupboard from scratch.

The cabinet is fitted into the alcove surrounding the gas & electricity meters for the house. The front of the cabinet is plastered and painted to match the surrounding walls, and give the cabinet a minimalistic look. The top lid and doors are made from solid pine fixboard, and varnished. The matching pine table was built with left-over materials from the utility cupboard.

There were a few side objectives to the project also:

  • Replace the old fusebox for a modern consumer unit with resettable circuit-breakers.
  • Take the opportunity to replace some of the old & unsafe house wiring.
  • Install new sockets, LAN cable, satellite & ADSL connections for the TV.
  • Install automatic lighting inside the cupboard.

The project was completed on 29/05/2006.
