Performing Engineering Operations: NVQ Level 1
"The best student we've had in 6 years" - David Fairbrother (Mechanical Engineer / tutor)
This was a one year course with Alliance Learning Academy, Bolton. The training was completed during one-day release from school between 2004 - 2005.
The course covered three primary aspects:
- Mechanical - Making components using hand tools & fitting techniques
- Electronic - Assembling electronic components
- Electrical - Wiring electrical circuits
"I was a very keen student during my studies at Alliance Learning, I always finished my tasks ahead of everyone else, and often to a higher standard than expected of me at this level. Due to my exceptional performance, I was asked to assist in training of the other students, under the supervision of my tutor. My work was often compared in quality to work completed by 3rd & 4th year apprentices at the academy. Towards the end of the course I was offered an unconditional apprenticeship with the academy, but turned it down in-order to advance onto college."
Unfortunately there are no photos from the academy, however the completed work portfolio describes the details of the projects completed.
